What is the Cities Project?

Thank you for the opportunity to present to you the Cities Project - a quarterly study that has currently completed over 60 separate research projects. We hope you find the information enclosed valuable and look forward to the opportunity to serve you as a subscriber to the Cities Project.

Concept

The goal of the Cities Project is to allow for a subscription-based study among Local Government clients so that a wide range of topic areas can be researched at an efficient cost. This also provides a high level of communication within and between councils so topics researched can be further discussed towards potential conclusion.

Research

Each quarterly document provides three separate research areas. These are selected through a request form supplied to you prior to research topics being selected. All suggestions are addressed, though as we have a large number of councils some suggestions may have to be covered in future quarters. This allows for a very cost-effective vehicle to explore a wide range of topic areas important to councils. It can cover broad issues in terms of consistency or narrow ones in regards to internal and external processes.

Communication

A number of tools are employed to allow debate on research topics after their initial publication. This allows councils to work together towards a process of evaluation. One system is the City Net - a process which provides an ongoing and extensive debate on a given topic area. This design is used exclusively with our subscriber clients. Another is the Town & City Voice Database - a national database of all councils set up to quickly evaluate opinions on proposals largely being put forward by Central and Locl Government agencies towards the revision of the Local Government Act.

Delivery

Every quarter the document is delivered in the form of one master copy including analysis and primary reference documents, and a copy on CD containing additional documents and non-print material. Also any number of analysis-only copies are provided to allow for a quick review of the reseach topics by a wider group within the council organisation.
